Lighting

iGuzzini illuminazione

Gecchelin’s early work interpreted the company’s style through its established technologies: injection moulding and thermoforming plastics. The products were bold in volume and colour, continuing the tradition of Harvey Guzzini’s decorative lighting from the mid-1960s.

With Virgola the company fully entered the world of technical lighting: it was the turning point that led it to leave the decorative sector and devote itself solely to the technical one.

Out of the trust and friendship with the owner came many products with high lighting performance, to which Gecchelin was able to give grace and the right proportions. This meeting of technology and form brought several international awards and, in 1989, the ADI Compasso d’Oro for the Shuttle series of spotlights.

ADI Compasso d’Oro 1989

The Shuttle spotlight series received the ADI Compasso d’Oro in 1989 for its contribution to resolving the many technical and formal requirements of a complete lighting system, as stated in the jury’s citation.

The design clearly distinguishes the transformer housing from the lighting assembly, both visually and structurally. This separation also limits heat transfer between the two, helping to optimise performance and service life.
